What is a DTS?
A 5-month missions training experience that begins at one of our two campuses just south of the U.S./Mexico border, and only minutes from the beach, discipleship training school is your chance to equip yourself with the skills you need to lead a successful life in global missions.
In the lecture phase, you will engage in daily training and small group sessions to gain the skills you need to succeed in the outreach phase. In this section of DTS, you will travel to an overseas destination and put your newfound missional mindset into practice.
YWAM Courses Across the Nations
DTS will prepare you to carry out the Great Commission across the world. Each session involves an 8-week mission trip to a specific international location, which will be finalized and disclosed once you arrive at one of our campuses located just south of the U.S./Mexico border.
During the outreach phase, you will transcend cultures and languages to engage with a new community and perform service, worship, and prayer to bring the story of God to people for the first time. Possible DTS outreach locations include:
Europe
The continent of Europe is home to diverse cultures and people. Many of them have never read the Bible or experienced the love of Jesus Christ. Spanning nearly 2% of Earth's surface, it is home to 50 sovereign states, including Russia, England, Spain, Germany, Hungary, and many more. Discover history hidden amongst modern marvels and serve the nearly 745 million people who live there through your unique mission style.
South East Asia
South East Asia is a geographical area consisting of Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, East Timor, Cambodia, and Brunei. Home to nearly 675 million people, it has one of the most diverse spectrums of faith, with Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity all sharing historical relevance in the area.
As powerful missions leaders, you can bring people across South East Asia to know God. Working with youth in schools or making connections through daily prayer, however you share God's word on your trip is a personal process backed by learning completely in the lecture phase.
Latin America
When you view a map online, you will see that Latin America is fairly close to YWAM San Diego/Baja in comparison to other YWAM Course locations. In fact, Mexico is part of Latin America along with countries such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Haiti, Honduras, and the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico.
A hub of culture, language, and popular tourist destination, YWAM San Diego/Baja's students have a unique chance to go deeper and enact tangible transformations in the lives of the people of Latin America.
The Caribbean
Known for its crystal clear waters and sandy beaches, the Caribbean is a dream outreach destination for youth who have a passion for missions and God's natural creations alike. Home to The Bahamas, Belize, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, and many other picturesque landscapes, The Caribbean is a region in which you can spend your days bringing our vision to make God known to all nations a reality.
Africa
The second-largest and second-most-populous continent, Africa covers about 20% of Earth's land area and is home to about 1.4 million people across 54 countries. But despite its size and manpower, the continent is the least wealthy per capita. You can bring both hope and faith to the hopeless in the communities that need it most when you attend an outreach trip in Africa.
