Engaging Musicians & Artists to creatively Express God’s love!

Creativity is an amazing fit that God has given us to express ourselves and reflect His beauty to the world around us. We love being able to worship the Lord using creative expressions.

Our desire for the Music & Arts Collective elective at YWAM San Diego/Baja’s discipleship training school is to bring musicians and artists together to God in deep and transforming ways. This course will challenge you to give your all - including your talents - to serve God in the nations.

Creative | Honest | Expressive | Meaningful | Unhindered | reflective | Forgiving

Our Music & Arts Collective DTS will turn your passion for creativity into a powerful worship tool to reach the broken and hurting.

We're looking for students who use their music and artistic expressions to participate in worship in a way that shares how amazing our God is!  With our creative worship training, you’ll learn how to push the boundaries and grow in your confidence and challenge yourself in your abilities.

In this DTS elective, you will seek to use your talents as a tool to explain the meaning of your art and draw others into a deep vibrant relationship with God. We are passionate about reflecting the redemptive power of Jesus and calling others to worship.

What is Music & Arts Collective DTS?

YWAM San Diego/Baja’s Discipleship Training School is an accredited university-level course through the University of the Nations that is five months long.

You and your fellow students will participate in a three-month Campus Phase, including life-impacting teaching, daily devotionals, and powerful worship ministry and prayer times with our YWAM community.

Our campuses are located in the beautiful Baja region of Mexico, just south of San Diego and the U.S. border.

After the 3-month Campus Phase, you are sent out on a 2-month international outreach trip equipped with newfound effective and assertive communication. In the Outreach Phase, you will use your God-given passion for adventure to bring God’s unending love to new communities across the world.

Campus Phase

Our DTS starts with a three-month Campus Phase where students discover more about God while surrounded by God's beauty in beautiful Baja California, Mexico, just south of San Diego.

The core of our DTS is our 6 elective offerings, which you can choose from for a unique opportunity to learn more about your specific passions through God.

When you choose the Music & Arts Collective DTS, you’re setting a path to be a lifelong worshiper. You will choose either the music or arts track depending on your natural talents and worship passion. Each track is designed to help musicians and artists develop their worship-leading skills and get creative. Both tracks will also collaborate on projects and events throughout the DTS.

We want to create music & art from a place of identity, understanding how God has uniquely gifted and wired each one of us to become creative worshipers.

Students will live in a close-knit community with one another and encourage one another to grow in their walk with the Lord. There is also time to meet in small groups, and the opportunity to be personally mentored, encouraged, and discipled by our YWAM staff.

Outreach PHASE

We seek to have our creativity come from knowing and worshiping God. From that point, we will give you the tools to Make Him Known across the globe in the Outreach Phase. You’ll take what you learn about leading worship in the Music & Arts Collective DTS classroom and put it into immediate real-world practice.

During this 8-week missions trip, you’ll travel to an overseas destination to apply the concepts you learned during the Campus Phase and use your worship ministry talents to communicate God’s love and serve communities untouched by his story.

When you lead worship in these communities, you’ll experience the deeply personal endeavor of sharing your inner faith in God with the world through your music or art. Our other outreach activities will include home building, feeding the houseless, ministering to orphans, and praying over red-light districts.

How Does Creative Worship Leading Fit Into Discipleship?

Psalm 33:3 says, “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the string, with loud shouts.”

Worshiping God has always been intrinsically linked to creative pursuits. Both music and art are powerful tools for expressing God’s story across diverse spheres of society. Making music or practicing an art form are also effective community-building tools that can enable you to lead worship in any setting with any group.
