All of our courses in YWAM are built around the motto “To know God and to make Him known.” Yet how can we claim to know God if we do not know His Word? The goal of the Discipleship Bible School (DBS) is to help our students make the Bible their companion for life. We aim to create a passion to study the scriptures and apply God’s truth to our life.

The DBS is a 12-week introduction to the Bible for students who have already completed the DTS. You will learn and gain insight of God’s overarching story to mankind. We will discover the purposes of God for the scriptures and tackle some difficult questions.

What will you learn in the DBS? how is it different from other Bible schools?

In DBS you will go through the entire Bible and hear lectures each morning helping to discover the original context of the scriptures. In the afternoons you will also read through each book in a small group and then discuss what you are learning, and then how you can live it out! The small group gives you both a place for community and accountability as you walk closer with God.  The emphasis of this course is not only to study, but it is to chase after God and to pursue transformation of our mind and heart. By the end of the school you will have read the whole Bible together, but you will also learn how to effectively lead a small group and run a Bible study yourself! We want to give you these tools so you can easily communicate who God is and the truth of His Word to a world in need!

You’ll observe the chronology of biblical events, better understand each book in its historical context, understand the harmony between the books, be able to recognize the different genres of literature, and major themes found in these 66 books! The student will learn the foundational truths of Christianity by going directly to the source. Discipleship Bible School was designed to give people an understanding of God through the lens of the Bible. For thousands of years God revealed Himself to peoples and nations, He sent His son to take away sin, and Jesus’ disciples left writings to the early church (and for us) on how to live like Jesus! What better way is there to know the Creator of the world and the Savior of our life than to study His Word and story of redemption? The Bible shows us God’s Character and Nature, and that is the foundation for our faith and life!

The Lecture Phase is 12 weeks and takes place at our San Antonio Del Mar & Ensenada campuses, just south of the border in Mexico. Because of our location there are numerous ministry opportunities available. As a student here you will be able to invest into the local Mexican community by participating in ministries.  At YWAM San Diego/Baja, we are called to serve the poor. Here are some of the many ways you will help us be the hands and feet of Jesus:

• Tutoring local children

• Evangelism to the homeless

• Serving in local orphanages

• Discipling local youth while playing soccer

• Getting involved with local churches
