What is Creative Arts & Media DTS?

YWAM San Diego/Baja’s Discipleship Training School is an accredited university-level course through the University of the Nations that is five months long.

You and your fellow students will participate in a three-month Campus Phase, including life-impacting teaching, daily devotionals, and powerful worship and prayer times with our YWAM community.

Our campuses are located in the beautiful Baja region of Mexico, just south of San Diego and the U.S. border.

After the 3-month Campus Phase, you are sent out on a 2-month international outreach trip equipped with newfound effective and assertive communication. In the Outreach Phase, you will use your God-given passion for music, arts, and media to bring God’s unending love to new communities across the world through creative discipleship.

A new DTS starts every fall, winter, and spring on either our San Antonio Del Mar or Ensenada campus. Both DTS are offered in English and Spanish, with locations only a few minutes walk from the beach. We can’t wait to see you there!

Campus Phase

Our DTS starts with a three-month Campus Phase where students discover more about God while surrounded by God's beauty in beautiful Baja California, just south of San Diego.

The core of our DTS is our 6 elective offerings, which you can choose from for a unique opportunity to learn more about your specific passions through God.

When you choose the Creative Arts & Media DTS, you will gain the skills to turn your natural creative gifts and talents into powerful tools to share the Good News with the world. You’ll have dedicated workshop time to complete group and individual creative projects tailored to your unique artistic abilities and preferred area of study.

New to art? Never shown your creativity to the world? Our DTS training is for students with all levels of experience who want to pursue a lifetime of creative discipleship. All you need is your passion for creation, and the materials and equipment necessary for your specific skill.

Students will live in a close-knit community with one another and encourage one another to grow in their walk with the Lord. There is also time to meet in small groups, and the opportunity to be personally mentored, encouraged, and discipled by our YWAM staff.

Outreach PHASE

Once the Campus Phase is complete, take what you learned in the Creative Arts & Media DTS classroom into immediate real-world practice in the Outreach Phase.

During this 8-week mission trip, you’ll travel to an overseas destination to apply the concepts you learned during the Campus Phase and use your creative talents to communicate God’s love and serve communities untouched by His story.

Our outreach activities will include home building, feeding the houseless, ministering to orphans, and praying over red-light districts. As you dive deeper into a vibrant relationship with God, you’ll find that the foundation for creative discipleship you establish on our campus can lead you to powerful opportunities to impact people in every sphere of society and gain a deeper revelation about your identity in Christ.

Possible outreach locations include Europe, Asia, & Latin America.

Cost of Creative Arts & Media DTS

The cost of YWAM San Diego/Baja’s Campus Phase is $3,495, which includes tuition, food, housing, and learning materials. We do offer partial scholarships for students from Latin America.

The cost of the Outreach Phase can vary depending on the destination and the airfare, but lodging, food, and transportation for the 2-month trip typically costs between $2,500-$4,500.

How Do Creative Arts & Media Fit Into Discipleship?

As God’s children, we ourselves are the result of His divine creativity. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” When we are creative in art and communication, we are drawn closer to our Creator. And when we share our creations with others, we bring them closer to God’s unending love as a result.
